Top 5 best Pizza Places in Naples, Italy

The top 5 pizza places in Naples suggested by a local and pizza lover

I might not know many things in life but as a guy born and raised in Naples I can definitely tell you where to go in Naples (or as we call it in Italy ‘Napoli’) to eat one of the best pizza ever. Go at the end of this article to see a map with all my favourite pizza places to pin for your journey.

Personally, I think this is the best pizzeria in Naples (so, the best pizzeria in the world too).

Located in the beautiful city center of Naples, in one of the main streets, Via dei Tribunali also known as SpaccaNapoli (breaking-Naples). It always has a queue of people outside, so expect to wait between 40min to more than an hour to get in. Avoid weekends to avoid an even longer queue.

While you wait, do as the locals and have a glass of wine and eat a frittatina or a crocchè from the fry shop next door.

Careful not to get confused, as another Sorbillo pizzeria sits just next to the first one – it’s not the same owner or the same pizza. You will also notice a lack of queue outside this smart guy.

P.S. Who doesn’t love a Netflix reference? Sense8 filmed here the pizza scene that took place during the finale. Sens-8 that Pizza!! (sorry for the dad joke)

2) Starita

Address: Via Materdei, 27/28, 80136

Starita pizzeria is located next to the National Museum in the Materdei area. This is another amazing pizzeria and usually has a bit less queue than Sorbillo.

Just be careful when you walk around, since it’s not the safest area of the city.

Try the montanara or the angiolilli fritti - a specialty from this place.

3) Da Michele

One of the oldest and most traditional pizza places in Naples.  You can only order a Margherita or a Marinara. You can eat your pizza standing up at the bar in a very traditional way or at a long table shared with other people. Expect to queue a lot here as well.

This place has also been featured widely by the media, including the food feast that from the movie ‘eat pray love’ with Julia Roberts.

This pizzeria is a bit more on the expensive side, but it has the extra bonus of being 10 steps away from the sea. It also has amazing views of Castel Dell’Ovo.

The pizza is delicious and you can then walk around the amazing area. If you don’t feel like pizza (crazy, but it might happen) Antonio & Antonio offers also amazing salads and fresh Bufala mozzarella.

For the last pizza place on this list we go back to SpaccaNapoli in the city center. This pizzeria is one of my favourite ever.

It’s a great choice if you don’t have time for a 2 hours queues some of the other ones in this list in the same area!!

Or you might even have one while you queue for another one (it’s worth I promise).

See below the map with all these delicious pizzerias and Buon Appetito  :)
